Maintenance is required at power plants to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electricity. This summer, Versiv partnered with Dominion Energy and Columbia Gas of Virginia to assist during their scheduled outage for routine maintenance at the Bear Garden Power Plant.

By using Versiv’s cross compression solution, the companies minimized environmental impacts by capturing and recycling methane from a section of pipeline so workers could safely work. The project lasted just under five hours and the total accumulated methane saved was 38,960 SCF, which equates to the following:

  • 7 home’s use of energy for a year
  • More than 24,000 pounds of coal burned
  • 8 passenger vehicles driven for a year
  • 1 acre of U.S. forest

This partnership proved an efficient, sustainable, and safe solution for the community.

Versiv was proud to support Dominion Energy and Columbia Gas of Virginia during their scheduled outage for routine maintenance at the Bear Garden Power Station to provide cross-compression solutions. This is one of many efforts this innovative team has taken to help minimize any potential environmental impact at their power station. We want to Congratulate the Bear Garden Power Station on being awarded the 2021 Environmental Stewardship Project of the year by Dominion Energy! We are grateful to partner with this proactive team and excited to be part of the solution for a sustainable energy future.
